I really want to read this book, it sounds good. But it is compared to Twilight, which is putting me off. Other than the premise of supernatural beings, is this book anything like Twilight?

The lead male character is standoffish and aloof. He is drawn to her as well but doesn't understand why and tries to resist. There is also a family dynamic similar to Twilight's.(less)

I really want to know if the original untranslated version also takes place in Lake Placid, or if the location was moved during the translation. Also, does Gemma reference Divergent in the original untranslated version or did she talk about a different book? I don't know why these two things are important for me to know, but they are. Can someone please help me????
