This series is listed as "Related Series" for Deaver's Lincoln Rhyme books, not just as "other books by" Deaver. I just read the description for all three books in this series and I'm not seeing a connection. I'm thinking maybe it is not really connected and is listed there in error. Does the main character appear in his Lincoln Rhyme books by any chance?
