But I could read this book to my 4 year old. We laughed out hard while reading so many times. From characters, to places, the things they do, they say and how they say it is so fantastic-real. Incredibly well written, with jumping-out-of-the-book characters, and a story so sweet and well-plotted. Reminding us that we are not the only ones around on earth, and if the animals could speak for themselves perhaps they would also talk and behave as they did in this book. No wonder Annie Schmidt is known as the queen of Dutch children's literature.(less)
