What makes Maisy D…moreWhile I very much enjoyed the first two Constance Kopp books I don't think they are as good as Jacqueline Windspear's Maisie Dobbs. What makes Maisy Dobbs better is that each one has a theme and we learn so much about the time period. We see the transition of British life in the early 20th century from wealthy families with servants to a more egalitarian society. And Maisie very definitely does have a life outside of work. The descriptions in the Stewart books do depict the time period but not in the depth of Windspear.(less)
