What year is this book set in? There are few contextual clues. At age 8, she's reading Dune, which was first published in 1965...of course it was republished many times since then. The Beatles and Rolling Stones were referenced in the beginning of the book, suggesting 1960s-1970s. Computers and video games are mentioned at the end when the main characters were in their 30s.....any ideas?
