2) Can you imagine never knowing the fate of your mother and countless friends and family?
3) The lack of water-drinking by the author and the three women she's with in camp while doing 12+ hours of hard labor, plus walking, and standing at attention for hours on end is talked about often - how does one do this day after day without dehydration or passing out? Did they eat snow during the winter? Did they have some other source of water?
