I don't think I would reccomend just showing up in a major European metropolis and asking for reccomendations for places to stay, same day.(less)

Bill Bryson mentioned that it took him a week to fly from US to Iceland and then a further week from Iceland to Luxembourg. Is that true? Were flights really so slow?
