The storylines for Tithe and Ironside are directly connected, but Valiant is more like a 'companion piece' where theres the same kinds of characters, and there is like one or two characters who cross over but its not anything where you would be vastly confused. It could function as a book on its own very easily

does anyone else think that I would be lost if I skipped Valiant and just read books 1 and 2? Valiant just doesn't seem to fit in with the storyline of the others.

it seems like the other characters from Valiant just appeared for the sake of its "connection" from Valiant but Val and Ravus weren't even needed and weren't even introduced because if they were, their appearance was unnecessary...

I could have totally skipped book 2 and gone on with book 3(less)
