The cellphone when duplicated in the novel is only a singular piece each time. Surely if it duplicates exactly both phones would be programmed and therefore the number of phones would increase exponentially ?

Why so much action with no explanations? Just a first impression, but I am having trouble sticking with the first chapters. So much action and no time or point of view to inform me. Much like modern films. So you may get a film deal. But not what I expect. I think Heinlein's "Cat" is my best example of time travel in fiction. Not to worry. I will stick with it.
