Can someone recommend a good introduction to Cosmology for the general reader? I don't have the mathematical skills to follow a book at this level, but I also don't want a book like "A Brief History of Time" which tries to explain cosmological concepts with misleading analogies to our ordinary physical intuition. (You can't explain gravity by reference to a bowling ball on a bedsheet? What pulls the ball down?)

Well Cosmology is related to universal phenomenon like stars, pulsars,galaxies and others but i think you should start with "Road to Reality by Roger Penrose", which has basic explaination of physical laws to quantum theories and hyperbolic universe and also shows the application of basic maths in calculation of celestial bodies".
