In the first ending her heartbreak and rejection is the natural and rational way the book should end based on Orville and Samantha's characters throughout the novel. She slowly realizes that she is more than dry paper &wants the one who helped her to grow. He tries to ignore the friendship/bond between them & hopes to part as friends. She shoots her shot &he blocks it. Then with the Dear reader ending we get what would happen if this book were about any sort of normal romance. The two acknowledge that they love/want each other, wait it out, &start their lives together, bickering and blissful. A+ ending because you get both; what should happen and what does. Which is which doesn't matter since both are correct. (less)
