Not sure I understand your question but it almost certainly is referring to Egypt so Gypto=Egyptian.

In Greek, many masculine nouns end in -os so the root word of Egypt is Aegyptus=Αιγυπτος. Τhe persion originating from Egypt, Aegyptios=Αιγυπτιος or in short Gyptios. (This is also why the Romani people are often called gypsy or similarly in various languages, mistakenly believed that they originated in Egypt.)(less)
