Lemme put it this way in the first 2 hours of the audio book 15 minutes worth were dedicated to taking time out of the active narrative to use the avatar, a self professed gun nut, to gush over the specs of the gun/ammo given the secondary characters even if some of the specs were not for features Owen should have been able to perceive, no matter how much of an all encompassing gun expert he is made out to be from the get go.
The kicker is the thread running through the opening fight is the "good guy with a gun" fallacy.(less)
