I've watched all the John Nettles-era episodes of Midsomer Murders and none of them were an adaptation of this book.

I think perhaps the structure of the book made it difficult to adapt. There's lots from different points of view in this one, and Barnaby's investigation is sluggish and somewhat repetitive (they visit two of the POV characters three times, and a non-POV character suspect three times as well). I could imagine it being very tricky to adapt for television without being boring, the character interactions (particularly those between the secondary, POV characters) are the more interesting parts of the book which don't actually feature the title character.(less)
