Is this typical of the whole Storm Serge series. My husband loves these books so I thought I'll start at the beginning. Halfway through and very disappointed. He hasn't read this one so can't tell me if its typical or different due to it being the first. I don't mind the humor or the "grossness" but it's plot is so disjointed and so many characters that have nothing to do with each other. Worth trying another?

This is not typical of the whole series. This is the strange and ugly beginnings where the author was all over the place exploring and at some point the Serge Storm series finally takes form and gets good. This is my least favorite book by one of my favorite authors - I actually don't like this book, and do not recommend reading it. I've read 15 books in this series, starting with Hurricane Punch (2007) and after, and liked them all very much. I did not like this one. (less)

Do you need to read the books in sequence or are they stand alone?

Tay Reading them could be compared with watching most TV series in which main characters and setting are the same but each episode stands on its own,
