He begins discussing the longer-term climatic effects, but for some reason veers off track and spends more time talking about other historical volcanic eruptions that resulted in widespread crop failures, livestock deaths, and mass migrations of people, instead of talking about the effects of THIS eruption.(less)

Supposedly the eruption of Krakatoa was the loudest sound ever made in recorded history (the Thera eruption might be a close second) that deafened thousands of people. Anything to this in the book?

Powder River Rose 2000+ miles. Fantastic book and the author did a great job of narrating
