I love Mary Roach, especially STIFF (study of dead bodies), GULP (study of digestive system), and PACKING FOR MARS (study of space travel). Roach is smart, funny, and not afraid to completely immerse herself in her research. Also, most anything by Bill Bryson is good as is Jon Krakauer. Another favorite is A. J. Knowles, especially KNOW-IT-ALL. (less)
