The content is disturbing and includes descriptions of starvation and reports of cannibalism, but never is it discussed in lurid detail or with an eye for shock or sensationalism. (less)

However, the print on the maps in this pocket edition is so small they are hard to read, and my inability to locate the places referenced in the text on the maps was one of my frustrations. I actually ended up looking up a lot of place names on Google maps to try to locate them and follow the action.(less)
