Unless Donal gave him the autograph book again which might jog his memory, I wouldn't expect Rasmussen to recognize a kid in a unexpected environment.(less)

I'm curious about how Manitowoc, Wisconsin became one of the settings in this book. My dad was raised in Manitowoc and in 1951, I was a bouncing baby boy who had been in this world for one whole year. I grew up in Illinois but we made lots of trips back to Manitowoc and Two Rivers to visit all the relatives. So many fond memories. Any idea how the author picked my city of birth?

However, Ivan's dad had had extensive surgery that left problems so Ivan's dad asked for help from Ivan's maternal grandma. That was going okay until that grandma required surgery too! So Ivan himself got packed off to his previously unknown great uncle and aunt in Manitowoc. However, he said his relatives were nothing like the characters in the book, and he actually didn't remember anything of the bus trip so felt free to make up all the events and characters of his novel's trip.(less)
