Their identity is not only created with details like marital status, children and hometown, it is also "backstopped" in government record databases, given job references, social security numbers, etc. Operators are also provided with what is called pocket litter, some "official" documents like drivers license and passport, as well as some inconsequential items like credit cards, currency, receipts, family photos, business cards (for self and others), maybe a lucky coin.(less)
