Why are book's titles changed after their initial release ? Like this book's original title was 'The killer in the crowd'. Its been changed to 'the man in the queue' later.

It was then published in the US with the title “The Killer in the Crowd,” probably because the US publisher didn’t think Americans would’nt what a “queue” was. When Josephine Tey wrote some more mysteries, this book was re-issued with the title “The Man in the Queue.”(less)
