How this book can be SO BORING? I only really liked the last irony.

Is it true that is not as vivid and dynamic as the rest of GGM's literature, but I think that this book's essence was exactly that; to describe the boredom, the hunger and the endless hope of a man who has not much else, in a context where all the things he fought for do not lo exist.
Also it has several different elements which makes it even better. For example, the weather is amazingly described which also seems to go with the Colonel's mood and feelings.(less)
