He does into into his drug use past, but it is in the positive light of beating it and his continued ability to remain clean. So, it is a very positive role model sort of story. You might want to talk to your 10 year old about it, and talk about how James is making better choices now. James tends to be pretty honest about his mistakes, and how Bob has really helped him to move forward with his life. If you're really concerned, I always recommend to my parents of my students to read the book first before having your child read it. You know your child the best. It's a pretty quick read. I read it in two days. It's hard to put down. Hope that helped.(less)
