I very much enjoyed Katherine Howe's first two novels, but did not read CONVERSION, as it is a Young Adult Novel. (I wish I could still classify myself as such, but alas! :-)) Is THE APPEARANCE.... to be a Young Adult novel as well?

So what is the real difference between an adult book about teens or a young adult? Nothing really-expect the so called 'adult' book might have more sex and swearing, then one labeled 'young adult'. So really? Age is nothing but a number when it comes to reading books! Don't let the label of 'young adult' sway you from enjoying a good read!(less)

Sarah Keeping in mind that I didn't find Penny Dreadful particularly scary - though definitely gruesome and sad and uncomfortable - I would say no, this isn…moreKeeping in mind that I didn't find Penny Dreadful particularly scary - though definitely gruesome and sad and uncomfortable - I would say no, this isn't especially scary. This is definitely not a horror story, though it does feature a ghost. The ghost is a funny, well-drawn character (although I'd quibble that her language and behavior come off as too modern at times). This is a quasi-historical paranormal romance, with the emphasis on romance. No jump-scares. Hope that helps. (less)
