When does it come out????????

I'm reading this now, and I'm very confused by the fact that in the end of book #1 Donchen says he's the second son of the second son of a house that had pretensions to the throne but wasn't the same house that currently had the throne. Also, in that first book the Hang Emperor has no heirs and his wife is alive. Now in the second book, Donchen is suddenly the grandson of the emperor and his grandmother is dead?
