In the words of Clement Atlee, Churchill's books should have been retitled "Things in history that interest me." It was never a complete history of the English or the Americans.
Tombs covers English history from prehistory until the Scottish referendum in 2014. It is remarkably well-researched and a complete delight to read. If you are a fan of English history, definitely pick it up.(less)

At what point does English history start for the author to assert a claim for the oldest nation in the world? The Tamil nation has existed for at least 3000 years, if not more (Indus Valley goes back over 5000 years and Tamil civ is linked to it).
