Do you need to read these in order? Just picked this one up at the library because I liked the cover (I know, I know), but I went on here to log it and found out its number 8! Should I read it and catch up later or is it not going to make sense without context?

One of the issues I found so moving about the Chet and Bernie series, is the wonderful , deeply loving relationship relationship between Chet and Bernie. Other characters rotate in and out of the foreground, but C&B's relationship is always central. The series begins with that and ends with it as well. yet, none of the comments I have read focus on the probable death of Bernie and the moving affirmation of that relat?
