So did anyone else notice an error in Chapter 26 when reading this? It says Summer 2013, but it must mean 1993...

Without wanting to spoil the book for anyone else. The "twist" in the tale was a forgone conclusion with the build up. I found it an upsetting clumsy handling of a truly horrific subject which affects many people with severe life changing consequences. In my opinion a book which has tried to give a happy twee ending to an awful real experience for many. Anyone else found it a poor take on the brilliant "Gone Girl"?

Is this book appropriate for 13 year olds? Violence and swearing don't matter just the other stuff.

I was reading far more 'adult' books at a younger age and I think generally teens are far more worldly wise nowadays.

But I don't think it's a great book for kids, given that there are so many other books out there and your typical 13 year old will not yet have had a chance to sample the best from various genres. I think most teenagers would struggle hard to identify with the characters (even more than I did) and might lack the life experience to disentangle the half-hearted psychology that the author intended.(less)
