I was reading far more 'adult' books at a younger age and I think generally teens are far more worldly wise nowadays.

But I don't think it's a great book for kids, given that there are so many other books out there and your typical 13 year old will not yet have had a chance to sample the best from various genres. I think most teenagers would struggle hard to identify with the characters (even more than I did) and might lack the life experience to disentangle the half-hearted psychology that the author intended.(less)
