Does anyone know if this series ever discusses the technology of solar sails, or of 'transition' (FTL travel) to another star? Does the crew ever meet and possibly trade with aliens? I have listened to most of 'Quarter Share' and it seems to be all about life in the galley, replenishing supplies of familiar Earth items, studying for qualifications. There's no sense of being anywhere but Earth.

A Stan seems like an hour and ticks are minutes. That's my interpretation but I bet somewhere in the series it's addressed.(less)
