I do not like horror/scary movies because I get scared easily. Is this book similar to a horror/scary movie? Or is it just suspenseful?

Her dad had gotten a call about Nicolette climbing out on the Ferris Wheel. So he left because he "was going to be a dad," when he realized he was too drunk to be driving so he pulled to the road near the caverns. He fell asleep and woke up to voices shouting. When you take that "clue" and add it to the fact that Corinne's body was wrapped in Nic's mother's quilt and buried under the new concrete floor that suddenly appeared overnight, then the implication is that Nic's father was awakened by the shouting voices and he found Corinne's body. So he hid the body the protect Nic. (less)

Carol it's metaphorical -- Nic is also a "missing" girl. It's a theme carried out through the book.
