This book was selected as book of the week on BBC radio 4 and was read by the author. I found it totally uninteresting and invariably turned off as his sole idea seemed to be about himself as a 40+ year old sad case and victim of his "father". Did anyone else find this totally self obsession and concerning a life less than interesting?

If you had a childhood like his, then you might be a bit obsessed about it, but I didn't find him so much obsessed, as someone trying to work out his issues. The book was not the typical bio of a star, but rather parts of his life that interconnected and what he took from those experiences. I didn't find him to be a "sad case" at all, just an everyday person trying to find meaning in a terrible situation that has haunted him for decades and now he finally has closure. Can anyone tell me how this book can already have 43 reviews on Goodreads when it isn't released until 7 October? And not in paperback until May 2015?

Can't understand the kudos given this book. a moan fest filled with SO many photos of the writer looking attractive. I know actors reputedly have frail egos but come on. Photos, novels, bios, records, awards, your own perfume, Broadway acclaim and a top TV series and obviously a nice saving pot, how much attention is enough? Hey maybe all the drive came from that nasty dad, he might otherwise been Mr Average.
