It does however, seem to be more heavily influenced towards the female side for the first book, but I think that is mostly because it's our introduction to the world created and to the personality of the heroine of the series. These books are unique in that they are building a true multi person story, and while Meryn is the catalyst and heroine she isn't the only one bringing gifts and driving the plot forward. She is my favorite, for so many reasons, but you get to experience a little of everyone through the series. (less)

If you like Meryn's geekiness, definitely try Elements of Chemistry by Penny Reid - they are funny and sexy but with normal humans.
And the Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout are with aliens and lots of LOL moments too.(less)
