Many years ago I read a book by Israel Kadare full of violence and atrocities and a few exquisite, lyrical passages, one of which read vaguely as follows: "She wept as one weeps only upon seeing the plum blossom in the spring after one's mother has died." I've been trying to track down the quotation – can you help?
