Would this book be suitable for elementary age children? I recently purchased and read Paper Wishes, a historical fiction middle grade novel about a family who is sent to an internment camp, for our school library and the kids are asking about more books on the subject.

My only hesitation would be that it's written at an adult reading level, so the kids would likely struggle with it. Probably fine for some precocious fifth graders, but definitely not everyone.
