The whole premise of the book angers everything in me that wants godliness, and it exalts selfish indulgence. But I also see an opportunity: It can expose the theology behind the worldliness, and that's why I'm reading it. I'm sick of being worldly and I'm trying to look behind the curtain to see what's truth and what's a lie. It's hard to disentangle yourself when you've been sown in the thorny ground, of the riches, pleasures, and cares of life, and desires of other things.(less)
