From what I understand of this line, Bradbury is describing the sound of the scythe cutting the wheat. The "crimson wet" bit is referring to the blood being shed as Drew cuts the wheat down. The blade is not actually covered in blood but this line acts as a metaphor for the death caused by it. (less)
