How long a time did the author take to write this book,it seems like not a lot of research went into it.?

Joe Sullivan The book was written before even a few episodes of the show had aired, so the author only had very generic writeups about the characters to work with.…moreThe book was written before even a few episodes of the show had aired, so the author only had very generic writeups about the characters to work with. And those would change as the series was written even.
So the characters were not quite what we would end up seeing on the show. The same can be said of most of the early books for Next Generation, as well as DS9 and Voyager's first few books.(less)
