There is a great series about a pig named Freddy who has all sorts of adventures. Walter Brooks wrote his series in the 1950's. IF you can find any of them they are wonderful. Freddy becomes a detective, he writes a newspaper, he goes to school and plays baseball. He travels to Florida and also to the North Pole.

I really like how the old man simply enjoys his surroundings, and the details in the book almost allow you to enjoy them with him. I am 24, and I would say you have to be in the right mind set to appreciate this book. The reason I say that is due to the fact that the book moves pretty slowly and references everyday occurrences for the old man which can feel boring. However, with the right mindset the slowness of the book adds to the enjoyment of the everyday details the old man is enjoying. This is something I realized 50 pages in (almost halfway through the book). So, a re-read may just make this book more enjoyable in general unless you have the right mindset right away. (less)
