Did anyone else notice that Beth broke her "Aloha" mug in the beginning of the book, and later it was intact? Was that supposed to be a signal that she altered reality?

I can only assume that it's an "Easter egg" of sorts for people to catch and give themselves a pat on the back for, since the change is never mentioned anywhere so doesn't seem to have any relevance to the plot.(less)
