Its reputation then and now is well earned as its 800 pages capture a world careening out of control. Follow the Henrys through the main moments and meet the main players. Their story has the power to sweep you along. If it's not working for you today, put it down and try again another time. You may find as most of us do that it's storytelling at its best. (less)

(There are no explicit sex scenes, if that is something you find more objectionable, but there are extramarital affairs, drinking and smoking. There is exactly one f⸺k, eight sh⸺ and 119 d⸺n.)(less)
