Anyone notice this fun glitch? In the opening of the book, Luke sees an old man with mantises on his head, and they're "the largest insect he'd ever seen" - as long as his thumb. Then, about 1/4 way in to the book, in a flashback (many years prior), he sees a millipede - the "largest insect he'd ever seen" - eight inches long.

I'm on page 157/385 and so far not enjoying it. I liked the "underwater mystery" this book has as its foundation. But it seems like 50% of the time its just the main character having a dream or a flashback. And that dream/flashback is just the usual body-horror that Nick Cutter seems to enjoy (as The Troop is known for its body horror) which isn't scary. Should I continue?

Is The Deep a sequel to The Troop? Somebody I follow tweeted about Nick Cutter's books and I got a bit confused on whether or not it is.
