I feel like the girl had a bad attitude toward her mom for the majority of the book, which I didn't like.
Some books kids in that age range might enjoy are:
- Hattie Big Sky by Kirby Larson
- The Goodbye Season by Marian Hale
- West Against the Wind by Liza Ketchum Murrow
- The Candymakers by Wendy Mass
- Every Soul a Star by Wendy Mass
- Ruby Redfort Series by Lauren Child
- The Goose Girl by Shannon Hale
- Princess Academy series by Shannon Hale
- The Penderwicks series by Jeanne Birdsall
- The Selection series by Kiera Cass
- The Beloved Wild by Melissa Ostrom.
Also all books by Ruta Sepetys are AMAZING, but it might depend on the maturity of the child as to whether they'd be ready to read them or not.
