I'm confused and maybe book 1 will help. Cornelia mentions that Clare's mother and Clare live in VA. Cornelia lived in the Bronx. Clare says that her mother left and Cornelia and Theo swept in to care for her. Cornelia says that Clare's mother left her on the side of the road. Do I need to just read book 1? :)
