Venin have a rigid hierarchacial system with Mavens, Sages, Asims, and Initiates, and all Initiatives (what Xaden is for most of Onyx Storm) are "sons/daughters" of the sage that teaches them, which is why Berwyn refers to Xaden as his son.(less)

Ashley I also think it could maybe be Sawyer, but Xaden says something along the lines of his new brother is not someone he ever expected to turn since they …moreI also think it could maybe be Sawyer, but Xaden says something along the lines of his new brother is not someone he ever expected to turn since they watched him struggle for the last 5 months, and the only people who seem to know that he was venin for 5 months would be Violet, Imogen, Bodhi, and Garrik. But Xaden is a master of keeping secrets, so there's no reason to believe he didn't tell Brennan or someone else about his struggle that we didn't see since the book is told from Violet's perspective.(less)
