There is so much of the book that relies on the reader's prior knowledge, and that adds to the pathos and the emotion of the story. Bex's recommendation is a good one - Harold, bit of a break, then Queenie. I felt I had to go back and refresh because it had been 2 years between books. (less)

And I really hate books that are narrated by the dead. But this is told as a series of letters she wrote from the time she entered hospice, which was the entire length of Harold's journey. I can't say any more without spoiling this, but I strongly encourage you to read it!(less)
