There is so much of the book that relies on the reader's prior knowledge, and that adds to the pathos and the emotion of the story. Bex's recommendation is a good one - Harold, bit of a break, then Queenie. I felt I had to go back and refresh because it had been 2 years between books. (less)

I love the first book. In search of others, I found this one. I read the synopse but I found weird that Queenie had the time to write letters for Harold, because in the end of the first book he acknowledge that she was unconscious. Now I'm afraid of reading this book due to the possibility of bad explanation, and I don't want to ruin the first book for me. Should I read this book, or should I avoid it?

And I really hate books that are narrated by the dead. But this is told as a series of letters she wrote from the time she entered hospice, which was the entire length of Harold's journey. I can't say any more without spoiling this, but I strongly encourage you to read it!(less)
