Ragan does give little insights into what has happened in the character's lives. (not a long input in each book but, she'll mention why a character is "set" on a certain way. If that makes sense. If you don't read the previous books, I don't think you'd be lost though. It's pretty easy to follow. Hope you read it, it was good!(less)
