Anyone have an opinion on the short story "Family Furnishings"...the one with Aunt Alfrida? I am somewhat new to Murno--she was recommended by a number of people--and I'm not as enthralled by her short fiction as many seem to be. This story in particular frustrated me. I continued turning the pages to find a reason why this story was being told to us... and the reason never arrived.

Except the Aunt didn't change. Of if she did it didn't matter. The story is about her experience of growing detached and disdainful from a formerly important person, and the accompanying changes such as her decision to live the life that she wants, and the reaffirmation of her feelings through the way the novel is chronologinialised.

Wtf i wrote more but it got deleted. Anyway it's like radiohead. Sometimes you can't put a finger on it, but you know two things for sure. It is goddamn beautiful, and it is goddamned true.(less)
