But ther…moreSince I just read this, I'll answer my own question. Rape is briefly mentioned (but not described) in the context of soldiers behaving badly. But there are mentions of more war atrocities on the double-page spread that comes right before "The Final Battle" (I took it back to the library so I don't have a page number.) I'd recommend parents/educators read over at least this part if you're wondering whether this is appropriate for the age group you're reading it to. I do think this is a great book and does a great job talking about the war and the "Georges" from both sides, but discretion is advised for younger or more sensitive kids. (less)
