I haven't read this or "Paradise Lost". Which would be best to read first? Would I gain more from this by reading "Paradise Lost" first - or perhaps the other way around?

Lewis's introduction is short…moreI respectfully disagree with Melissa. I think it best to read Lewis first and I honestly think that this was his intent. Lewis's introduction is short (and the epic is long) and the book not only functions as an introduction to Paradice Lost but also with the entire idea of the epic and even the genre of poetry. As is true of so much of Lewis's writings, he strives to be inclusive rather than exclusive. He is never condescending. (less)
