It is not a sugar plum fairy story, the boy, 6th grader, and his younger sister have worry issues. He is concerned for his coal miner father and she is struggling with the Santa. The story allows the kids to be just that, kids, and express their concerns to the folks. They actually listen! The dog get his point of view as he tells the tale from his perspective. Take away a good lesson without being hit over the head with it.(less)
